A Lady of the Game

She sits there silent, like a stone angel over the board,
Viewing the world below her, in which she is Lord.
The dying sun is behind her, making her shadow seem stretched,
But her look of perfection only becomes stronger, and more deeply etched.

And as the day dies out, and the world turns to night,
The room becomes alive, and full of her light.
Her face is angelic, framed by her hair,
Auburn and gold, shining everywhere.
Her eyes also shine, like a very rare gem,
A very unique light, that comes from within.
Her beauty and her skill have no equal, no twin,

And in every competition she will play, she will win.
Because her knowledge and skill triumphs, again and again.
She will best her opponent, before they even begin.
All will know this angel, for Sara is her name,
And as sure as there is a heaven,
She is a Lady of the Game.
